Coronation Street actor, David Neilson, who plays Roy Cropper in the ITV soap, has joined Labour’s candidate Anna Turley in Redcar to show his support for Labour at the forthcoming general election.
David and Anna visited charity café ‘Something in Mind’ in the town centre before going on a campaign walkabout to meet voters.
Anna Turley, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Redcar, said:
“It’s been an amazing day campaigning with David in Redcar.
“We spoke to lots of people in Redcar about the challenges they are facing. People are really concerned what another 5 years of a Tory government propped up by the Lib Dems would mean for them and their families. It may look like it sometimes, but politics is no soap opera - there are real issues at stake for many families here in this election.
"With David's help this afternoon we've raised the importance of voting Labour in Redcar at this years elections."
David Neilson said:
“The bedroom tax has brought misery and hardship to the most vulnerable in our society. They weren't responsible for the worldwide economic crisis, reckless bankers were. I’ve been impressed with Labour’s plans for a fairer society. Putting an end to low pay, ending exploitive Zero Hours contracts and supporting those most vulnerable. That’s why I’m here today with Anna supporting a Labour victory in Redcar.”
