Labour have announced our teams for the 2014 European Elections. The European Elections are run on a regional list system and allocated using the total of the votes cast for the party.

Labour's list in the North East is:

1. Judith Kirton-Darling

2. Paul Brannen

3. Jayne Shotton

Jude Kirton-Darling has extensive experience of fighting for working people in Europe. She is currently a Confederal Secretary of the European TUC. Brought up in Middlesbrough, Jude currently lives in Hexham.

Paul Brannen – brought up on Tyneside, Paul is senior manager with a national charity working out of Newcastle.  Paul has experience of leading successful campaigns; starting with the Anti-Apartheid Movement in the UK during the 80s and latterly organising Christian Aid’s Tax Justice Bus tour across the UK and Ireland.

Jayne Shotton lives in North Tyneside. A former Councillor, Jayne currently works as an officer for USDAW – the shop-workers union. A strong campaigner for workers in the region, Jayne helped lead a campaign against Twinings Tea’s decision to out-source jobs from the North East to abroad.
