Fighting back for Redcar, fighting back for Labour - LABOUR SELECT ANNA TURLEY FOR REDCAR

Anna TurleyAnna Turley has been selected as Labour's candidate to contest the Redcar constituency at the next General Election.

Anna Turley, aged 33, who lives in Redcar was selected by Labour Party members at a hustings meeting at Coatham Memorial Hall.

Anna Turley currently co-ordinates the Co-opertive councils network and is a policy advisor on local government.  A former Civil Servant, Anna has advised former Labour ministers David Blunkett and Hilary Armstrong on equality and social exclusion.

After the selection, Anna Turley said;

"I am so proud to have been selected by Labour party members here in Redcar.  Redcar constituency is a proud and passionate place going through some tough times thanks to this Tory-Lib Dem government.

"Labour lost Redcar at the last election, we have a lot of work to do.  We need to show we understand the challenges facing local people, the fear of unemployment, wage freezes, cuts to vital public services and the ever rising cost of living.  I'm going to spend every day over the months and years until the general election listening to local people and holding Ian Swales to account for the actions of the Lib Dems in government."

Sue Jeffrey of Redcar Constituency Labour Party said;

"This has been a strong contest with some fantastic candidates.  I'd like to thank all those who took part.  In Anna, we have an exceptional parliamentary candidate.  She has the experience and a passion for Redcar.  The next few years are going to be exciting for us as we work with Anna to take Redcar back for Labour."
