LABOUR TAKES CAMPAIGN AGAINST CAMERON’S CUTS TO THE STREETS OF THE NORTH EAST

The Sham Cams

Labour today took the campaign against David Cameron’s regional cuts to the streets of the North East.

Five David Cameron’s descended on North Shields Town Centre to highlight the threat made by the Tory Leader to put the North East of England in the firing line for cut-backs in the public sector. The Five “Daves” handed out fliers and talked to voters in the Tynemouth constituency.

Campaigning against the cuts also took place across the region’s city and town centres, including Durham, Thornaby and Sunderland.

The Tories economic credibility was also undermined today by their Shadow Business Secretary Ken Clarke who admitted Labour was correct in the action it took to support North East based Bank, Northern Rock.

Responding to the admission, Labour’s Regional Minister for the North East said;

"That wasn't what the Conservatives said at the time. The Conservatives have called it wrong at every stage of this crisis and they are wrong now to target the North East of England with their plans for savage cuts."
