Lauren Dingsdale has been selected as Labour’s parliamentary candidate for the Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland constituency to stand in the next general election.
Lauren was born and brought up locally. She is a solicitor and has worked both in the UK and abroad. She has volunteered in a law centre helping people with advice and in particular dealing with landlord and tenant cases.
She enjoys running and has raised over six thousand pounds for Barnardos in Middlesbrough including running the London Marathon. In her spare she volunteers in a school helping pupils with their maths and reading.
She is actively involved in campaigning for Labour and is a member of the executive of her local party.
Speaking after the selection, Lauren said:
“I’m so delighted to have been selected as the candidate for the next election here in Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland. I feel it is such an honour and am very humbled that local members have put their faith in me.
“My main priority now is to be out and about talking to voters campaigning tirelessly so that Labour can win here. We currently don’t know when the next general election will be but I intend to be very actively campaigning so that we are ready whenever it comes.
“Like many people I have seen the worst impacts of Tory policies with cuts to vital public services. This includes police being cut from our streets and neglect of our NHS which has been pushed into crisis. I know that only a Labour Government can bring the change we need to make people’s lives better.”
