Liz Twist to be Labour’s candidate in Blaydon

The Labour Party in the North has announced that Liz Twist is to be Labour’s candidate for Blaydon.

Liz lives in Ryton and is a dedicated hard working local Councillor who is deeply involved in her local community and is heavily involved as a volunteer with local charities. She has fought for working people as UNISON’s Regional Head of Health. Liz has a track record of working hard in elections and campaigns for Labour and is delighted with the opportunity to be at the heart of Blaydon’s campaign in this vital election.

Liz Twist, Labour’s candidate for Blaydon, said:

“This is my home and I am so pleased to have been selected as Labour’s candidate for Blaydon. Dave has been a fantastic MP for Blaydon and has big shoes to fill.

“I am looking forward to campaigning and making the case for a Labour Party that stands up for the people of Blaydon rather than a Conservative Party that only looks after the privileged few.”

Dave Anderson, Labour MP for Blaydon, said:

“I'm delighted that Liz Twist, with whom I've worked closely for 20 years, has been chosen as our Labour Candidate in Blaydon. She is well known and widely respected across our constituency as a genuine hard working councillor and trade union representative.

“She was a key member of my Constituency office staff team for many years and she brings that vital experience to the role of MP for Blaydon . I'm sure she will serve our people with commitment and dedication for years to come”
