Tory plans to abolish One North East would be a disaster for business and jobs in the North East – Winterton

Rosie Winteron

Labour’s Regional Economic Development Minister visited Tynemouth today to hear how local businesses have been helped by One North East.

Rosie Winterton joined Labour’s Candidate for Tynemouth Alan Campbell on a visit to Advanced Industrial Solutions in the Tyne Tunnel Industrial Estate. AI Solutions was established in 2007 and received grant assistance from One North East of £200,000 to help them re-locate to their new base. The company had grown from 6 staff to 20 with plans to increase to 35 in the near future.

Rosie Winterton then travelled onto 2020 Vision in North Shields for a tour of their office and workshops. 2020 vision have secured export work thanks to One North East’s international offices.

Rosie Winterton, Labour’s Regional Economic Development Minister said;

“The Tory plans to abolish One North East would be a disaster for business and jobs in the North East. Just at the time when Labour is working to help business grow through assistance from One North East, the Tories would get rid of this valuable source of help.

I heard first-hand from local companies in Tynemouth how One North East is helping businesses grow. We want to see One North East develop and continue its work driving this region forward. The Tories are a change this region can not afford.”

Paul Stonebanks, Managing Director of Advanced Industrial Solutions said;

“I was pleased to welcome Alan and Rosie to Advanced Industrial Solutions. I am very thankful for the assistance given to us by One North East and hopeful that other companies will get the same chance in the future.”
